Getting an estimate

Is the inspection free?

Yes. The inspection and the written estimate cost nothing, with no obligation.

Do you put the price in writing?

Always, before any work starts, with the scope and materials named.

Do I need to be home for the inspection?

For the first visit it helps, so we can see any stains inside and get into the attic. If you can't be there, tell us where the problem shows indoors.

Repair or replace

How do I know if I need a new roof?

Age, how widespread the damage is, and the condition of the decking. Worn shingles on every slope, several leaks or soft decking usually mean replacement; damage in one place on a sound roof is a repair.

Can new shingles go over the old ones?

It's sometimes allowed, but we don't recommend it. A tear-off lets us check and fix the decking, and the new roof lasts longer.

How long does a new roof take?

One to three days for most homes, depending on size, pitch and weather.

Not sure what your roof needs? We inspect, photograph what we find and put the price in writing. Free, with no obligation.

Leaks and emergencies

What should I do if water is coming in?

Call us, move belongings away from the water, catch it in buckets, and stay off the roof.

Is a tarp a permanent fix?

No. It keeps water out for weeks, not years. The permanent repair should follow once the roof is dry.

Will insurance cover my roof?

Sudden damage, such as a storm, often is covered; wear and age usually aren't. Your policy decides, but we document what we find with photos either way.
